French Coordinator
, Summer Intensive Language Program (SILP)

Annie deSaussure is delighted to be joining the SILP community this summer. Annie has taught French language, literature, and film for over five years at the Universities of Yale, Fordham, and Willamette where she is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of French and Francophone Studies. In addition to her Certificate in Second Language Acquisition, Annie was awarded a Ph.D. in French from Yale University in May 2016 for her dissertation which analyzes literary expressions of minority cultural identity in Brittany, a Celtic region in Western France.

Her current research focuses on the dynamic relationship between travel and identity in contemporary Francophone literature and film. Annie loves bringing culture and authentic materials into her language classroom, and she works with technology, music, film, literature, news, podcasts, and much more to engage students with cultural diversity throughout the Francophone world.

Annie greatly enjoys teaching and looks forward to working with SILP students this summer. Outside of the classroom, you’re likely to find her practicing Olympic weightlifting or sightseeing on her road bike.
