Our Summer Intensive Language Program application is now open!


Once you start your application, you will need to select the following to access the Summer Intensive Language Program application:

Incoming/current Middlebury Institute graduate students: Please do NOT submit the online application. Instead, you will submit the Middlebury Institute student registration form, which will be available January 2016. If you submit an application online and pay the $50 application fee, this fee cannot be refunded.

A completed application packet includes the following:

  1. Completed application form with accompanying $50 application fee (non-refundable)
  2. Academic Transcript(s)
  3. Preliminary Placement Test submission

Step 1: Submit an Application

The application fee of $50 is waived for anyone being referred by a MIIS or SILP alum. Please provide the name of the MIIS or SILP alum under "Fee Waiver Request Reason" after selecting "Save & Pay" at the end of the application.

Step 2: Submit Academic Transcripts

All applicants must submit academic transcripts to complete their application packet. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted.

Step 3: Take the Preliminary Placement Test

Unless you are an absolute beginner, you are required to take the online preliminary placement test before your application is considered complete. Each applicant will receive emailed instructions for completing the online test within 2-3 business days of submitting the online application.

Applicants will be notified of an admissions decision two weeks after completing the Preliminary Placement Test.
