About Applications

Age Guidelines

Our intensive program generally requires that students be at least 18 years of age. The Summer Intensive Language Program will occasionally admit students between the ages of 16 to 18. Participants under the age of 18 must provide proof that they are in custody of a legal guardian living in the local area. Under-age participants are also required to submit two letters of recommendation from teachers or advisers that attest to their fitness for intensive language study. All applicants under 18 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Please contact languages@miis.edu with any questions about this policy.

International Students

In addition to the requirement above, international students whose home language is not English must demonstrate functional proficiency in English in order to be admitted to the program. After you have submitted your application, our staff will contact you to set up a brief interview to determine your English proficiency level.

Alternatively, they may submit a recent TOEFL or IELTS score (within the last two years) of a minimum of 80 or 6.5, respectively. In that case, a Skype interview would not be necessary.

The program provides students with F-1 or J-1 I-20s and visa support. All international students must have a valid F-1 or J-1 visa to study.

Apply by Mail or In Person

Though online applications are preferred, applicants may complete a paper application to apply by postal mail or in person.
