Jennifer Hickey earned an MA in TESOL at the Monterey Institute of International Studies and has been teaching TESOL students—from beginners to advanced learners—at the Institute since 2010. She has also served as a writing tutor for graduate students in such fields as nuclear nonproliferation, public policy, and language education.
Before coming to Monterey, Jennifer completed her BA in Comparative Literature at the American University of Paris; that experience of cultural immersion informs her teaching today, allowing her to be compassionate and to support students as they establish the English language skills they need to achieve their goals. Having taught in IEP for three years, Jennifer has seen bonds forged and culture shared among students from many different places, ultimately underscoring her belief in language education as a way of discovering that we have more in common as human beings than we may think.
