Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey
Is there an exam that I am required to pass at the end of this program?

While there is not a formal exit exam in EPGS, all students must successfully complete their summer English program by receiving passing grades in all of their classes and by meeting attendance requirements.

For students who will be attending graduate programs at the Institute, successful completion of the EPGS program is a pre-requisite to admission into their graduate school program. Students should note that they will be required to take written and oral English placement exams at their master’s degree program orientation in August. As an international graduate student, you will be required to place into at least the 300-level of English for Academic & Professional Purposes courses. Successful completion of EPGS does not ensure placement into the 300-level degree requirement courses. Students who fail to place at the graduate level will be required to continue taking non-degree English language courses. These courses will not count toward your graduate program and incur additional tuition charges.
