Amy Coad
Academic Coordinator
Amy is a native Californian. She has also lived in Texas, North Carolina, and Idaho. Amy has her bachelor’s degree in Spanish Studies from Santa Clara University in California. She has studied abroad at universities in Argentina and Mexico. Amy received her master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the Monterey Institute.
Before coming to Monterey, Amy taught English and Spanish to children and adults in California and Mexico. She also worked as a legal clerk and interpreter at immigration law firms. At MIIS, Amy served as the Chair of Teacher Training and Supervision for the BUILD Language Club. She has worked as a writing tutor for the Graduate Writing Center and the English Preparation for Graduate Studies Program. She recently taught research and presentation skills in the Kanda University Joint Exchange Program and is currently teaching in the Intensive English as a Second Language Program.
