We ask that students do their best work without assistance from other people or reference materials. Before beginning the online language placement test, you must indicate your compliance with the Monterey Institute’s Academic Honesty Policy.
Should we discover that you have received assistance on the test, or that someone has taken the test in your stead, you will be subject to dismissal from the Institute.
The Monterey Institute of International Studies is a professional school dedicated to the education and training of future professionals. As such, the professional standards and values to be maintained by Institute students are those of the professions they will enter upon graduation. These standards and values include honesty, trust, fairness, respect and responsibility, which form the bedrock of all academic work at MIIS. These standards apply to activities such as: writing papers, capstones, and business plans; making oral presentations; collecting empirical data through survey, interviews, and observations; taking of timed and un-timed examinations, and so on. Students at the Monterey Institute are expected to be guided by these values and to maintain the highest standard of academic integrity in pursuing their academic and professional goals.
Any student found to have committed or to have attempted to commit the following misconduct may be revoked of their admission.
Acts of dishonesty, including but not limited to the following:
Cheating, plagiarism, or other forms of academic dishonesty during the placement test.
Furnishing false information (including the identity of the test-takers) to any Monterey Institute official, faculty member, or office.
