What excites me about being a professor at MIIS:

What excites me about being a professor at MIIS is the real commitment to ensure the students gain an international experience and their commitment to value the diversity of their students and faculty members and to source international expertise where needed to ensure their students have access to a truly diverse and multidisciplinary program.


I am an experienced higher education manager and administrator and have worked for many years in senior management positions in international higher education contexts managing multinational teams or coordinating teams across countries for the delivery of international programs. I have build teams recruiting expertise from across the world and continue to practice human resource management in international contexts. I am at present the Director of International at the University of Sydney.

Recent Accomplishments

In the past five years I have been working in the development and growth of the International Portfolio at the University of Sydney. The portfolio was created in 2006 and it is now the main international relations hub of the University coordinating international activities across all faculties.

I have expertise in program development in Latin America and regularly travel to the region. I am a member of the Council on Australian Latin America Relations Education Action Group from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and an elected director of the Australian-Latin America Business Council.

Previous Work

I have had management appointments in Australian Universities and managed teams of administrators focusing on a range of areas from scholarship development, marketing and fundraising to student administration and IT support.

IEMG 8540 - Staff Managmnt in Intl Context      

Examining the complexities of staff management in international and multinational contexts, this course will include discussion of job description development, advertisement, selection processes, salary setting and negotiation, ethics, workers’ rights, and managing remote teams. Establishing trust, staff motivation, communication skills and leadership styles will also be studied in both organizational and cross-cultural contexts.
