The Friends of the Middle East Club will host a panel discussion titled "The Gaza Question: Ethical and Political Implications" on Wednesday March 18th at 6:00 pm in the Irvine Auditorium. The panel will feature Middlebury College alum and peace activist Amer Shurrab '08, who lost two family members during the recent Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip. Mr. Scott Kennedy from the Resource Center for Nonviolence and Dr. Steven Garrett from the Monterey Institute will provide analysis of the political and ethical issues surrounding the Gaza conflict, with an eye on the most recent regional and international developments.
This event is part of a weeklong campus-wide awareness campaign, which includes a screening of the film Encounter Point (sponsored by the Conflict Resolution Association), and a cultural night (co-sponsored with the Arabic Club). A podcast of the panel discussion will be available on the Monterey Institute's iTunes U site after the event.
