Student and faculty field projects from Chile to Cambodia will be highlighted at the Monterey Institute of International Studies’ Practicum Showcase, Wednesday evening, April 8 from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the Irvine Auditorium and McCone Building lobby at 499 Pierce Street in Monterey.
This past January, more than 50 Monterey Institute students and faculty traveled to locations including El Salvador, Chile, Cambodia, Palestine, Belize and New Orleans to put their skills to work. Students explored local issues through in-person interviews, pinpointed areas for community action using interactive assessments, explored the peace-building process of war-affected areas and much more.
The event is open to the public and the community is invited to join in hearing about the trials, tribulations and successes of these projects. Following presentations from each project’s participants, there will be an information and recruitment fair offering information about each project and the opportunity for students to sign up for next year’s projects. Refreshments will be provided.
