MIIS Faculty Member Critiques Afghanistan-Pakistan Strategy in "Foreign Policy in Focus"

The Institute for Policy Studies-sponsored Web journal Foreign Policy in Focus last week published a dialogue on U.S. counter-terrorism policy in South Asia featuring Sharad Joshi of the Monterey Institute. Joshi, who is a research associate with the Monterey Terrorism Research and Education Program (MonTREP) and an adjunct faculty member in the International Policy Studies program, argues for a coordinated Afghanistan-Pakistan strategy and stresses the ineffectiveness of the Pakistani government’s policy of cutting short-term deals with local tribal leaders. Read the full article and accompanying dialogue.
