Changing Times in Cuba
June 5, 2013
Over spring break, a group of 28 Monterey Institute students visited Cuba as part of an immersive learning experience entitled "Cuba: Changing Course for Changing Times." Travel to the country is still restricted for citizens of the United States, but this trip was organized under a special license for academic travel.
Students learned about relations between the United States and Cuba and the recent changes that have been going on in the country, especially within the political and economic systems. They met with representatives from government agencies and various social organizations.
It was also an opportunity for people to see Cuba first-hand and form their own opinions about the country and its people. To read more about the experiences students had on this trip, you can check out their blog ¡Viva Cuba!
