Thinking back to your time at the Monterey Institute, what comes to mind?

Late nights at the library? Coffee from Plumes? Sea lions and seagulls? Office hours with a favorite professor? Trivia night at the Mucky Duck on Alvarado Street?

Regardless of what language you studied, the degree(s) you earned, or when you attended—maybe you were here when the school had less than 200 students and was called the Monterey Institute of Foreign Studies (MIFS)—these memories are among the many things that bind MIIS alumni together. We can’t wait to share these memories, and make new ones, at the upcoming reunion July 25 through 28.

Alumni have already registered from such far-away places as Tajikistan, Tunisia, Thailand, Norway and Croatia as well as Washington D.C., Yellow Springs, Ohio and Carmel, California. Make sure to register in time and to connect with other alumni coming to the event through Facebook event page.

Reunion 2013 promises to be action packed: the weekend will kick off with afternoon campus tours and a special welcome reception on the evening of Thursday the 25th at the President’s House.

Friday the 26th will feature a fascinating series of presentations, including President Ramaswamy’s “State of the Institute” update, faculty discussions and updates regarding the relevance of MIIS today, and a networking luncheon hosted by the Center for Advising and Career Services. We’ll close the day with the Faculty Happy Hour.

Saturday’s activities start with a family-oriented fun run around Lake El Estero led by the one and only professor emeritus Glynn Wood, and closes with the gala reception banquet at the Clement InterContinental Hotel on Cannery Row.

We’ll wrap things up Sunday morning with a farewell pancake breakfast on campus. For details on all things reunion, visit us online at go.miis.edu/reunion2013.

Don’t forget also that one of the best things about coming back to Monterey is spending time enjoying this wonderful area! We’ve arranged for special reunion rates at a variety of local sites—whale watching, kayaking, cultural history tours, wine tasting and much more. Details on discounts can also be found at go.miis.edu/reunion2013.

Contact your classmates, pull out your passport, dust off your MIIS memories, and Make Your Way Back to Monterey for Reunion 2013….we can’t wait to see you back on campus!
