"My favorite thing is definitely the faculty's dedication to the students and the program."
"Monterey is the hub of marine conservation," she said. "It also has ties to the other marine programs at Stanford, UC-Santa Cruz and CSU-Monterey Bay."
Silvia loves the dedication and passion of the IEP faculty.
"I think it is because of this that I have been able to achieve the things I have in my time here and that so many doors have been opened for me professionally," Silvia said.
One of those doors was opened last summer when Silvia was a Center for the Blue Economy Fellow working with WildAid on marine conservation enforcement. Though the connections gained during that experience, Silvia was able to once again team-up with WildAid last semester as part of her International Professional Service Semester. This time, she lived and worked in the Galapagos for a month and a half.
"I think that CBE opened the door for me to work with one of my dream organizations and because of this I made many contacts within the marine realm that could be very useful for future career opportunities and networking."
