MIIS Sends Call Out for Alumni Achievement Award Nominations! Deadline is January 20th

The Monterey Institute of International Studies Alumni Achievement Awards Program is back and there is an open call to our whole MIIS community for nominations.
As Alumni Relations Director Leah Gowron explains: “It’s important that we recognize the outstanding contributions that Monterey Institute alumni make every day—be it through the accomplishments in their professional worlds, the fascinating and rewarding differences they make in the lives of others, or the enormous time, energy and commitment many have in “giving of themselves” as volunteers and supporters of MIIS.”
The awards are as follows:
Distinguished Alumni Award:
This award will honor an alumna/nus who meets the following criteria:
• Recipient has achieved prominence in his or her field, and epitomizes the Institute’s motto, “Be the Solution” through their contributions to his/her community and/or field
• Demonstrated record of service and philanthropy to MIIS
• Ideally, the nominee is a role model to MIIS students and his/her journey provides motivation and inspiration to the Institute and its constituents
• Willingness to be considered as a commencement speaker
Young Alumni Achievement Award:
This award will honor an alumna/nus who meets the following criteria:
• Recipient graduated within the last 10 years
• Currently making great strides as a young professional in their field and/or community and engages with the MIIS community
Alumni Volunteer Service Award:
This award will honor an alumna/nus who meets the following criteria:
• Recipient has given generously of his/her time to support MIIS
• Engaged in activities related to chapter development/events, fundraising, student mentoring, career support, and/or recruitment
The nomination process is open to the public. Alumni, faculty, students, and staff are encouraged to submit a nomination. Self-nominations will also be accepted.

All nominations are due by Friday, January 20, 2012.
