Middlebury College biology and environmental studies professor Steve Trombulak will deliver a public lecture on November 10 titled “Conservation Planning Across Large Landscapes and Seascapes: Is It Needed, and Can It Work?” as part of the Monterey-Middlebury Lecture series.
Professor Trombulak’s discussion of the evolution of conservation planning and the challenges inherent in landscape-scale conservation planning efforts will draw from his recent book Landscape-scale Conservation Planning (Springer, 2010), which evaluates the successes and limitations of such efforts across a range of dimensions, including science, culture, and policy.
Each year the Monterey-Middlebury Lecture series—whose theme is “Global Vision, Global Reach”—brings two Middlebury professors to Monterey to deliver guest lectures, and sends two Monterey professors to Vermont for the same purpose. The annual lecture series is one of a number of initiatives designed to foster and enhance relationships among faculty and students on the two campuses.
The lecture will take place from 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 10 in Room 100 of the McGowan Building.
