The Monterey Institute of International Studies has received a $750,000 gift pledge from David Jones, a member of the MIIS Board of Governors. The gift, payable over three years, is designed specifically to support the school’s efforts to enhance its fundraising operations through the office of Institutional Advancement.

“We need our future leaders to be multilingual and capable of navigating different cultures effectively. The Monterey Institute is uniquely positioned to build these sorts of international connections,” said Jones. “My ultimate goal with this gift is to leverage increased fundraising capacity into broader support for the continued expansion of the Institute’s academic offerings.”

“We are extremely grateful to David for this generous gift,” commented President Sunder Ramaswamy. “It reflects both his personal commitment to the Monterey Institute’s educational mission, and his confidence in the positive trajectory of this entire institution.”

David Jones is a longtime member of the Monterey Institute Board of Governors. His wife Betty Jones served on the Middlebury College Board of Trustees for 15 years and is now a trustee emeriti. The Joneses have been very strong supporters of both institutions and of collaborative efforts between them.
