While graduating students all over the world are naturally apprehensive about entering a slow job market, Dale Eggett (TLM ’11) is among several members of the Monterey Institute’s spring graduating class with multiple job offers to choose from. Dale will graduate in May with a degree in Translation and Localization Management and expects to start his new job in June. His Spanish language mastery and technical background as a translator with some knowledge of Web programming make him a highly sought-after employee.

A May 8 article in the Philadelphia Inquirer featured Dale as the leading example in a business section story highlighting the growing opportunities in the field of translation, interpretation and localization management. Localization management is said to “provide one of the best chances for steady employment in language services.” The article also talks about the difference between being bilingual and having the specialized training of professional translators and interpreters, and how “machine” or computer translation has not reduced the need for language professionals.
