TEDxMonterey will return to the Monterey Institute's Irvine Auditorium on April 15 to tackle the theme of Cultivating Innovation. No matter where you are, you can tune into the Livestream available in eight different languages.

This year's TEDxMonterey speakers will unpack the meaning, process, and impact of innovation. They include Andrew Hargadon, author of How Breakthroughs Happen; Margarita Quihuis, an international "mentor capitalist"; F. Noel Perry, creator of the California Budget Challenge; and Monterey Institute faculty and students.

The TEDxMonterey 2011 event will complement the campus-wide innovation process, spearheaded by the Digital Learning Commons. Do you have an idea that could make the Monterey Institute better? Now's your chance to shine by submitting a post to our new "InnovateABLES" blog.

In the coming weeks, each innovation group will have the opportunity to present their idea at our first ever "Idea Slam" in the Holland Center. The top three ideas will be given two minutes on the TEDxMonterey main stage! Monterey Institute students can also participate in the TEDxMonterey revolution by submitting an application for the Student Speaker Competition.

Maureen Fura, TEDxMonterey's fearless leader, hopes that this year's event will spark serendipitous collisions: “It’s all about having the right mix of people in the room. We want to create open spaces so that good ideas collide, and people take the necessary steps to translate them into the real world. Our goal is to be the premiere networking event in Monterey County, connecting MIIS students and Monterey community members to people who will champion their ideas.”
