MIIS Students Honored for Commitment to Promotion of American-Chinese Youth Relations
November 29, 2010
In September, a delegation of Chinese diplomats led by the Counselor of Education, Mr. Shaowei, visited the Monterey Institute of International Studies campus in downtown Monterey. The delegation participated in Moon Festival activities organized by the Institute’s Chinese Student Association.
According to Zhenshuai Liu, president of the MIIS Chinese Students Association, the visiting dignitaries were so impressed by the unity, passion and high spirit of the students that they stayed in contact with the association leadership after the event. In October the Chinese Consul General of San Francisco, Mr. Gao Zhangsheng, invited eight Monterey Institute students to attend a Chinese National Day reception. “That is a great honor for our students,” says Liu. During the reception the Consul General made a point of praising the MIIS students for their efforts to promote communication between Chinese and American youths and urging them to continue their good work.
