On Sunday, November 14, the 2010 Fisher International Business Forum brought together industry and thought leaders for a discussion focused on sustainability and innovation. “It was a truly inspirational event because everyone involved was so genuinely interested in focusing on solutions, on how we can pull ourselves out of the recession through innovation and sustainable solutions,” says Carter Chapman (MBA ’11) who was in charge of marketing for the forum, which was held at the Monterey Museum of Art. There were close to 80 participants and many of them used words like “uplifting” and “really motivational” to describe the discussions.

The three panelists at the event—Beto Lopez, senior designer at IDEO, Mart Bailey of Callaway Private Equity Partners and Renee Patton of CISCO—are experienced leaders in business innovation, sustainable practices and global marketing.

The Fisher International Business Forum was organized by the MBA Student Association at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. According to Carter, it was a great lesson in “teamwork”. The students learned a lot about event planning and the application of innovative solutions, such as making the proceedings available to an outside audience via live-streaming on the Internet.
