Institute Dean Quoted Widely on Google and China
January 13, 2010
Yuwei Shi, dean of the Institute’s Graduate School of International Policy and Management, was quoted today in a Reuters story regarding Google’s recent threat to pull out of China. The story, headlined “Companies watch, wait as Google mulls leaving China,” was subsequently picked up and run by news outlets across the globe, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Yahoo News, The Guardian (UK) and The Economic Times (India). Dean Shi, who continues to teach courses in the Institute’s Fisher International MBA Program, noted in the article that “'Foreign companies ... have to 'play by the rules' whether explicit or just norms… Companies do get used to some of these things, but for some companies it's never comfortable.”
