Monterey Institute, Middlebury College Researchers Gather at Montreal Workshop on BRIC Nations
October 30, 2009
Monterey Institute President Sunder Ramaswamy will be among the featured presenters at an upcoming workshop convened at CIRANO in Montreal, Canada. The November 6 workshop, titled “Brazil, Russia, China, India: Myths and Realities About the BRICs,” is being organized by Middlebury College Director of International Studies Thierry Warin, and will also feature Middlebury’s Dean of International Programs Jeff Cason and Professor of Economics Will Pyle. The workshop aims to engage in "a thorough analysis of economic and geopolitical impacts" related to the ascendance of the four BRIC nations. CIRANO is an internationally-recognized research center that brings together over 100 professor-researchers from 18 institutions in Canada, the United States, and Europe. CIRANO’s research and journal publications are focused in the areas of public policy, risk and finance, and since 1998 CIRANO has overseen the leadership of Québec’s only experimental economics laboratory.
The convergence of academic leaders from Monterey Institute and Middlebury College for this workshop represents another point of collaboration in the two schools' continuing movement toward integration in July 2010, when the Institute will become known as "a graduate school of Middlebury College."
