Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey

Ed "retired" from NPS to the Institute in 1992, with what he said was a 10 year agenda of what he wanted to accomplishment. At the end of 10 years, he not only fulfilled his commitment, he spun out a whole set of academic and political objectives that, in collaboration with colleagues in international organizations and Institute faculty, he would expand and successfully pursue! It has been my privilege to know/observe him, and his families, and to stand back in awe of his accomplishments. Through his UN small arms programs, he has saved innumerable lives around the world, while providing the education and training for people who will continue to do likewise! There is no one for whom I have more respect! And, "retirement" to the contrary not withstanding, I expect to see Ed continuing his mission of making the world a better place. God Bless.
