I wish something like this had been around when I was in high school. I began learning italian in college and have continued to teach myself as much as possible because I do hope to return to italy one day but if I had started in high school I'd be fluent by now. I think that there needs to be a greater emphasis on American students to learn other languages. I met people from around europe when I studied abroad who knew anywhere between 2 and 7 languages. I think learning new languages would be a good first step on teaching american students that there is a larger world than just our own country which is a fact that sometimes seems to be lost on the youth of this nation.
