The Monterey Way
At the Monterey Institute, we think to act and act to think. Learning is not bound just to books and the classroom at the Institute; it is actively pursued and internalized through educational practica, internships, public service and volunteerism, student organizations, ongoing work opportunities, and vigorous dialogue between all members of the greater Monterey Institute community. Theory and practice are bridged, explored, refuted, reassessed, reflected on, improved and always experienced first-hand. Interdisciplinary studies are highly valued as a way of crafting innovation and seeing linkages across global issues. Students are as responsible as faculty in co-creating course curricula and educating their colleagues and classmates. This type of applied, inclusive, and empowered learning is what makes our Institute different. This is the foundation for all programs at the Monterey Institute. This is the Monterey Way.
