Xi Zhao-Wilson

Dr. Zhao-Wilson is Founding CEO and Director of BioMarker Pharmaceuticals Inc. She currently serves as Chairwoman, Board of Directors of BioMarker. The company has launched a consumer genomic product under her leadership. She has initiated and is actively managing research collaborations with academia partners in the US and foreign countries, including several institutes of Chinese Academy of Sciences and prestigious universities in China. BioMarker is developing a new class of therapeutics to prevent and treat chronic diseases and slowing down the rate of aging. She is an inventor of a few patent applications in this area.

Dr. Zhao-Wilson has twenty years experience as a senior executive of start-up, early stage and established companies in the biotech and biomedical industry. Prior to BioMarker, she was a corporate development executive at Aviron, a bio-pharmaceutical company that recently merged with MedImmune, subsequently merged with AstraAeneca. She was a founder and CEO of InCell, a biotech company. Dr. Zhao-Wilson served as board director and senior executive officer at Baekon, a bio-instrumentation company.

Dr. Zhao-Wilson is Professor at the Chinese Academy of Preventative Medicine, a very prestigious academic medial institution. She was a Research Scientist at Stanford University where she conducted research in the field of gene regulation in various cancers and molecular mechanisms related to steroid hormone receptors.

Dr. Zhao-Wilson has been awarded multiple U.S. and foreign patents and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and reviews. She has been awarded research funding through SBIR Grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, fundings from private organizations, and an award from the Katharine McCormick Fund. She also lectured extensively at international research institutions including the U.S. National Institutes of Health, the Max-Planck-Institute in Germany and at numerous universities in the U.S., China, and European countries. She is also an invited speaker at international business conferences.

Dr. Zhao-Wilson received her Ph.D. in Cellular and Developmental Biology from The Ohio State University, and her M.S. in molecular genetics and cell biology from the Institute of Cell Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her MBA, from Fisher School of Business, Monterey Institute of International Studies focused on international business management. Her executive management training from MIT Sloan School of Management emphasized business and organizational strategy. Dr. Zhao-Wilson is also a swimmer, photographer, golfer and opera lover. She currently lives in the Silicon Valley, with her husband and their lovely boy, Prince William.
