Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey

The Center for the Blue Economy Advisory Council supports the mission of the Center for the Blue Economy to promote ocean and coastal sustainability by providing the best available information to empower governments, civil society, businesses, and concerned citizens to make educated decisions about the marine environment.

The Center is closely associated with the Institute’s International Environmental Policy program, which offers a concentration in ocean and coastal resource management. The program educates the next generation of marine leaders, equipping them with essential interdisciplinary skills to synthesize complex information, manage diverse teams, determine best practices, produce original research, and help shape and direct the agenda for global marine policy and management.

The Center for the Blue Economy Advisory Council consists of leaders and professionals in fields related to the Center’s mission. Advisory Council support for the Center will include:

  • Participation in Council meetings
  • Guidance and communications with the director, academic leaders, and students regarding teaching, learning, research, grant, and career opportunities
  • Enrichment opportunities for current students (seminars, guest speakers, internships)
