Alison Geballe resides in San Francisco, where she serves on the boards of Save the Bay and the Contemporary Jewish Museum. Recently, she was a member of the Advisory Council at the Stanford University School of Education and the board of the French American International School, from which her two children received bilingual International Baccalaureate diplomas. Her daughter went on to graduate in Russian from Middlebury College in 2007.
After graduating from public schools in Summit, New Jersey, the University of Michigan and Yale Law School, Alison worked in California state government (at the Office of Appropriate Technology). Later, she owned an independent bookstore in San Francisco and helped establish an after school tutoring program, a joint effort of Congregation Emanu-El and the Third Baptist Church.
She serves on the boards of two family-related foundations and has been actively involved with the work of The San Francisco Foundation and the Jewish Community Foundation of San Francisco.
