Jason Warburg

Executive Director

Jason Warburg joined the Monterey Institute as executive director of communications in January 2009, after two decades working in communications and higher education in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. Early in his career, he served as a communications and policy advisor for California elected officials including Congressman Mel Levine and Lt. Governor Leo McCarthy, specializing in message development, speechwriting, and higher education policy. He also spent nine years in a series of senior communications positions at a large nonprofit federal student loan agency, including five years as director of communications, before completing his tenure as vice president of public affairs. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California, Davis and a master’s degree from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.
