Most Americans – in fact, most people anywhere in the world – never travel outside their home country or learn a “foreign” language. But others are curious about the world outside their national borders. They long to travel, learn languages, and live among civilizations distant and different from the place where they grow up. If that sounds like you, you will be among like-minded people at the Monterey Institute. Here you will be surrounded by fellow students and taught by faculty who see the world most clearly from a global perspective.
Our students bring rich backgrounds in languages. Nearly half enter with undergraduate degrees in language or with degrees that combined languages with another field of study. They represent more than 50 countries. One-third of the student body is from outside the US. Nearly all the Americans enrolled at the Institute have lived, worked or studied abroad, in such programs as the Peace Corps, AFS Intercultural Programs, Rotary International and Japanese Exchange and Teaching Program.
We invite you to join us for two years of study, growth, friendship, and soccer – and preparation for a career in today’s exciting, fast-changing global scene. |
